This giant billboard was constructed in celebration of Coca-Cola’s 25 year presence in Spain. It is made of 15,000 limited edition aliminium bottles of Coca-Cola light tied with ropes. The idea is for the billboard to be interactive  with a webcam that allows users to tag and customise one of the bottles on a website. The banner also contains various prizes, users are encouraged to look closely to find these.

Destroyed Apple Products

Surrealist Expressionism or just plain stupid? Lacking in environmental sensitivity and any real purpose Micheal Tompart comments, “‘It’s not about destroying old products. It’s about our relationship with the new.”

FAME

Fame Festival runs annually and is effectively a meeting of a dozen international artists in the small Italian centre of Grottaglie. The event is to host the artists for variable lengths of time (from 1 to 4 weeks) and offers them the cooperation of the local artisans for the production of pottery works and limited edition prints. The artists are also free to ‘paint around the city’ to improve areas of aesthetic deprivation. Various names that have previously been involved in the festival include Os Gemeos, Hoppeck, Dalek, Swoon, Word to Mother and Bastardialla. A selection of their work can be viewed above.

3D In The Palm Of Your Hand

Invented by Jitsuro Mase and produced by Directions, inc this is the Palm Top Theatre, a simple device that slides onto iphones and transform the 2D screen images into 3D scenes.
The technique it uses is with mirrors to bounce the images from the screen onto glass which once layered creates the illusion of space. A further advance into the new world of 3D.

Jonathan Safran Foer’s new book ‘Tree of Codes’ has been precisely die cut page by page to show only a few words. The book was designed by Sara De Bondt Studio, a new design in the current age of digital publishing. Although appearing quite average on the exterior, inside the book (through the unusual printing technique) is a new interpretation of ‘The Street of Crocodiles’ by Bruno Schulz. The book was made by Belgium’s Die Keure using a different die-cut pattern on every page.
Tree of Codes took an impressive 365 days to complete  and demonstrates how a printed book such as this will never be able to be appreciated on an e-reader device.

App For Safer Driving

Slowdown is a new iPhone app targeted at drivers, it’s aim is for safer driving. The app plays music in the car, but if the car is going too fast, the music slows down encouraging the driver to do the same.  If the driver is going 10kph over the legal limit, the music will stop playing completely and will only resume once the speed is back within the limit. A clever app, which is also free to download on iTunes.
